In general, an option is a type of derivative instrument that gives the holder the right (but not the obligation) to buy (a "call") or sell (a "put") an asset at an agreed-upon price at or prior to a specified date in the near future. Under normal market conditions, the fund generally invests substantially all, but at least 80% of its net assets in U.S. securities and/or derivatives that seek to replicate the returns of U.S. securities.
