Investment Risk Disclaimer
Research and simulation tools for self-directed investors—not personalized advice.
1. No advice, recommendation, or fiduciary relationship
PyInvesting provides general research, educational material, software tools, market information, and hypothetical simulations. Nothing made available through the website, emails, community areas, tools, data, charts, strategy descriptions, backtests, screeners, or other content (collectively, the “Content”) is personalized financial, investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice.
Nothing on PyInvesting is an offer, solicitation, recommendation, endorsement, guarantee, or invitation to buy, sell, subscribe for, hold, or otherwise deal in any security, fund, derivative, digital asset, strategy, or other financial product. We do not know your complete objectives, financial position, tax circumstances, risk tolerance, knowledge, experience, or needs. Your use of the Service does not create an adviser-client, fiduciary, agency, brokerage, portfolio-management, or other professional relationship.
2. Backtests are hypothetical simulations
Backtests are hypothetical simulations, not records of actual trading. They are constructed with historical information and assumptions selected by the user or the Service. A backtest can benefit from information, rules, or data availability that would not have been known or achievable in real time.
Past performance and hypothetical performance do not predict, guarantee, or reliably indicate future results. Actual results can differ materially and adversely. No strategy, model, ranking, screen, allocation, signal, or historical result is guaranteed to be profitable, suitable, available, or repeatable.
3. Method and research limitations
Results may be materially affected by look-ahead bias, survivorship bias, selection bias, data-snooping, overfitting, parameter choice, benchmark choice, rebalance timing, incomplete histories, changes in index membership, and assumptions about liquidity, cash, dividends, taxes, corporate actions, and reinvestment. Small changes to assumptions can produce very different results.
Research may omit information that another investor considers important. Strategy descriptions simplify complex market conditions and should not be treated as complete investment processes or suitability assessments.
4. Real-world costs, availability, and execution
Displayed results may not fully reflect commissions, bid-ask spreads, slippage, market impact, borrowing costs, financing, withholding or other taxes, custody fees, fund expenses, foreign-exchange conversion, subscription costs, or other charges. They may assume trades at prices, times, or quantities that were not available.
Real markets can be illiquid, volatile, closed, suspended, fragmented, or subject to price limits. Orders can be rejected, delayed, partially filled, or filled at worse prices. Products can be delisted, merged, liquidated, restructured, or otherwise changed. These effects can materially reduce returns or increase losses.
5. Data and model limitations
The Service may contain software bugs, programming defects, calculation mistakes, display errors, broken assumptions, or processing failures. These problems may cause an output to be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or wrong even when it appears precise or plausible. An error may not be detected, corrected promptly, or corrected at all.
Market, fundamental, corporate-action, classification, currency, and other data can be delayed, estimated, adjusted, incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or later revised. Third-party sources may use different definitions or correction policies.
Corrections to software, data, assumptions, or methodology may materially change previously displayed results. We do not warrant that Content is current, complete, accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, or appropriate for a particular purpose. You must independently verify every material input and output against reliable primary sources and, where appropriate, your own calculations before relying on it or making an investment decision.
6. Investing involves substantial risk of loss
The value of investments and income from them can fall as well as rise. You may lose some or all of the money invested and, for leveraged, margined, short, derivative, or similar positions, losses can exceed the initial amount. Currency movements, concentration, leverage, liquidity, issuer failure, market events, political events, and regulatory or tax changes can amplify losses.
No Content is a promise of capital preservation, income, liquidity, diversification, performance, or any particular outcome. Money needed for living expenses, emergencies, or near-term obligations should not be exposed to risks you cannot bear.
7. Your independent responsibility
You are solely responsible for evaluating investments, checking data and assumptions, conducting due diligence, determining suitability, understanding product terms, complying with applicable law, and deciding whether and how to act. You must independently verify every material input and output against reliable primary sources and, where appropriate, your own calculations. You remain responsible when you copy, modify, automate, or combine an idea produced by the Service.
Before making a decision, consider obtaining advice from appropriately qualified and licensed independent financial, legal, tax, and accounting professionals who can assess your circumstances. Do not act on an output that you cannot verify or do not fully understand.
8. Regulatory boundary
The Service is provided as a self-directed research and education service. It is not offered as personalized financial advice, brokerage, dealing, trade execution, custody, or regulated portfolio management. General availability of a tool or publication does not mean it is suitable for you or permitted in every jurisdiction.
This description does not create a regulatory exemption or determine the legal status of any activity. Applicable law and the Service’s actual conduct control. PyInvesting does not undertake to assess whether any Content, feature, or communication is suitable for your circumstances.
You must not use the Service where doing so would be unlawful. If a feature, communication, or interaction appears inconsistent with this boundary, do not rely on it as advice and contact us for clarification.
9. Relationship to the Terms of Use
This Disclaimer explains investment-specific risks. The Terms of Use form the contract governing the Service and include warranty exclusions, limits of liability, payment terms, and mandatory-law protections. If you do not accept those Terms, do not create or use an account; if you already have one, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription.
