It invests in fixed income markets of the United States. The fund primarily invests in long term municipal obligations with maturities of more than ten years. It invests in tax-exempt obligations (including bonds, notes and capital lease obligations) issued on behalf of Massachusetts not-for-profit health and education institutions. The fund was formerly known as The Massachusetts Health & Education Tax-Exempt Trust. BlackRock Massachusetts Tax-Exempt Trust was formed on July 23, 1993 and is domiciled in the United States.
